July 2, 2019 Solar Eclipse In Cancer

Our third eclipse of 2019 will be a  solar eclipse on July 2, and it occurs at 10 degrees and 42 minutes Cancer. This total solar eclipse will be visible from small parts of Chile and Argentina just before sunset. Some regions in the Pacific and South America, including locations in Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay will see a partial solar eclipse, if the weather permits. Eclipses generally affect the masses - events that affect most people in a large area or even worldwide. Since this eclipse occurs in domestic and family-oriented Cancer, this eclipse could affect family matters, domestic issues, women’s issues, homes, and land.
For the US, this eclipse will affect the President because it is in conjunction to the Sun in the chart of the United States. Saturn in opposition to this point will cause continuing problems for the President. Saturn’s placement in the third house indicates that the media will continue to be a heavy and stern check on the President. The eclipse takes place in the ninth house in the chart over Washington DC. This eclipse will affect the legislature and the judicial branch as well. Look for a continued push for impeachment hearings, and the Courts will likely continue to side with the House in their efforts to get information on Trump’s finances and from Mueller’s report (the sections that were blacked out because of classified information requirements).

The eclipse in the ninth house will also affect the airline industry legal organizations and law firms, higher education issues, the healthcare industry, and relations with foreign countries. The Mercury/Mars conjunction in the ninth opposed by Pluto could indicate severe problems and/or accidents. There could be more talk of war and/or violence with foreign nations. There could be surprises and/or sudden moves from an enemy or partner with Uranus on the descendant. Violence and/or war cannot be eliminated from the possibilities with the Mercury/Mars conjunction in a square aspect to Uranus in the chart. We could lose a famous diplomat or woman with Venus in the eighth house. And, there continues to be a great deal of optimism with regard to the economy with Jupiter in the second house. That optimism probably is not justified since Neptune is in a square aspect to Jupiter.

As always, this eclipse will affect you personally if you have planets and/or points conjunct or opposite the eclipse point (only a two degree orb). Those planets or points between 8 degrees and 12 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer are included. Eclipses are Uranian in nature in that what happens is unexpected, and you might not even be certain as to what is happening for six months. For a solar eclipse, it takes about a year for the event to completely mature. Whether the eclipse is experienced as positive or negative depends on the planet that is conjoined or opposed, it’s place in your chart, the condition that the planet is in, and whether and how you might have prepared for what is happening (i.e. free will). If you’d like to know if you have planets or points that fall into this range, let me know. For most people, it will be experienced simply as a New Moon type event. Those are generally felt as the start of something new or a new beginning.

Miscellaneous Astrological Musings - May, 2019

Person 1 Moves Across The Country

A gentleman in San Francisco experienced an eclipse on his natal Uranus on August 21, 2017. This was a solar eclipse, and I suspected that it meant he would be moving out of town about a year from that solar eclipse. His natal Uranus resides in his fourth house and is the ruler of his natal tenth house. He moved to the East Coast on October 1, 2018. He had planned to move on September 1, 2018, but he was delayed - a Mercury retrograde period in August of that year seems to have caused the month-long delay.

Special Counselor, Robert Mueller’s Letter To Barr Surfaces On April 30, 2019

Robert Mueller sent a letter to AG Barr indicating his dissatisfaction with how Barr was representing his conclusions of the investigation into the Russian interference in the 2016 election and Trump’s connections to the Russians. That letter surfaced in an article in the Washington Post on April 30, 2019. On that day, the Sun was conjunct Trump’s natal Pluto - which is located in his natal twelfth house of secrets and self-undoing. A powerful person behind the scenes sends a powerful message - not so fast with all this “total exoneration” talk.

Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin passed away last year on August 16. I found her natal chart to be quite interesting and described her quite well.

She was born on March 25, 1942 in Memphis, TN. The time as listed by astro.com is 10:30 PM and gets a Rodden rating of AA. She is an Aries with Scorpio rising and Moon in Cancer.

Her Sun is in the fifth house - the house of creativity, children, and just having fun. She loved to perform and I’ve heard many that knew her well describe her as having a very regal presence (today). The fifth house is related to the sign of Leo. It’s no surprise that she became known as a queen - the Queen Of Soul. Her MC (the top of the chart) is on Leo. And, her lunar node is located in the tenth house. It seems that she was destined for success and public acclaim. She earned/won eighteen Grammy awards. Her Aries Sun reminds me of songs such as “Who’s Zooming Who” and “RESPECT.”

The USA Trade War With China

President Trump has gotten the USA involved in a trade war with China. The countries have been issuing tariffs on goods exported from the other country. Transiting Saturn and Mars had been aspecting relevant planets in the charts for all three - Trump, the USA, and China when this trade war began.

Transiting Saturn had been aspecting Trump’s natal Mercury and Neptune by opposition and square aspect respectively for a few months. As Mars joined Saturn in early Capricorn (in addition to transiting Sun and Mercury in early Aries), the trade war broke out.

The latest government of China was formed on October 1, 1949 in Peking. The chart drawn for that event (shown below) puts the Sun at 8 Libra, Mercury at 13 Libra, and Uranus at 5 Cancer. The Libra planets reside in the eighth house of joint finances and others’ money. Uranus is conjunct the USA’s Jupiter and Venus.

And, now transiting Chiron is making hard aspects to the above planets from early Aries.

Person 2 Has Kidney Stones

A gentleman I know has had two incidents of kidney stones during the last few months. The first time he had this issue, transiting Saturn was conjunct his natal Venus in Capricorn. The second time it occurred, transiting Chiron was in a square aspect to his natal Venus in Capricorn. He has also had lower back pain issues.

An Interesting Couple

I have an interesting couple in my database. They are married, and the male identifies as heterosexual and the female identifies as bisexual.

The male is a Capricorn (natal Sun in Capricorn). Saturn, which rules Capricorn is conjunct the female’s Ascendant. The female is a Sagittarius. Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius, is conjunct the male’s Ascendant. Is this reflected in the charts of all married couples? No, it isn’t - it’s actually a fairly rare occurrence. The male’s natal Juno (civil marriage) is in late Sagittarius and is conjunct the female’s natal Sun.

In the couple’s composite chart, the Sun shows up in the fifth house. They are together to express love and joy as a couple and to show others that it’s possible. And, there is definitely a lot of love and joy between them, and they certainly have a good time together. Composite Venus is also located in the fifth house, and that is one of the best placements for a couple.

Is it all fun, joy, and love for this couple? Do they have any problems? Of course they have problems. What is their major problem? Composite Saturn is located in the second house of money, values, and possessions. And, it is squaring their composite Sun. The Sun/Saturn aspect might keep them together, but it’s not pleasant. So, their big issue is money, and they’ll need to work on that.
