January 5, 2019 Solar Eclipse In Capricorn

Our first eclipse of 2019 will be a  solar eclipse on January 5, and it occurs at 15 degrees and 32 minutes Capricorn. This eclipse will be visible in East Asia, a very small part of Alaska, and much of the Pacific Ocean. Eclipses generally affect the masses - events that affect most people in a large area or even worldwide. Since this eclipse occurs in ambitious and business oriented Capricorn, this eclipse could affect corporate leaders along with large multinational corporations, authority figures, and the leather industry. The lord of the eclipse is Saturn, and it is also conjunct Pluto. So, this eclipse symbolizes authority, discipline, intensity, and power. There is a karmic element to this eclipse.
For the US, this eclipse will affect the President of the nation as it is in opposition to the Sun in the chart of the United States. It is highly likely that justice will prevail with this eclipse, because Saturn always requires what is deserved. And, even if what is deserved is something very good or positive, it usually takes a while for that to manifest. There is an element of permanence or of the final outcome of something. As is always the case, it might not occur along with the eclipse. It might be when one of the inner planets stimulate the eclipse. In this case, Saturn will also be stimulating the eclipse fairly soon after it occurs. Look for major events in late January and February of 2019. There will likely be more in early April as well. Saturn returns in August and remains close to this eclipse point till it moves on in November of 2019. It could be a difficult and intense year for the US. In addition, this eclipse occurs in the fifth house over Washington DC. Therefore, it will also affect the entertainment industry and children. Mercury squares Mars in the chart. So, it looks like there will be talk of war and rumours of war and conflict. Jupiter is in a square aspect to Neptune. Many will be tempted to take big and major risks, but there is great potential for loss here. There could be difficulties at sea or problems with the airline industry. A foreign power could destabilize home security if we are not vigilante.

As always, this eclipse will affect you personally if you have planets and/or points conjunct or opposite the eclipse point (only a two degree orb). Those planets or points between 13 degrees and 18 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer are included. Eclipses are Uranian in nature in that what happens is unexpected, and you might not even be certain as to what is happening for six months. For a solar eclipse, it takes about a year for the event to completely mature. Whether the eclipse is experienced as positive or negative depends on the planet that is conjoined or opposed, it’s place in your chart, the condition that the planet is in, and whether and how you might have prepared for what is happening (i.e. free will). If you’d like to know if you have planets or points that fall into this range, let me know. For most people, it will be experienced simply as a New Moon type event. Those are generally felt as the start of something new or a new beginning.
