The weekend begins with the Moon transiting the sign of down to earth Taurus. Taurus loves the sense of touch. Give someone a hug. The Sun conjoins transiting Uranus (in Aries) Saturday afternoon. The unexpected happens (for good or bad) in a sudden and dramatic way (it will be difficult to miss - like lightning). Go with the flow and try not to overreact. The Moon moves into chatty Gemini late on Saturday night. There will likely be plenty to talk about. Socialize and enjoy group endeavors or get-togethers.

Aries – You probably need to deal finances on Friday. You might even discover that you have more money than you thought you had. This could increase your intense desire for greater freedom. Why not go and check out an art exhibit.

Astrology And Politics: April 5, 2016 Edition

Senator Bernie Sanders:

Senator Bernie Sanders has had a good run the last couple of weeks. He will likely win the Wisconsin primary today and the Wyoming primary (actually, it’s a caucus) on Saturday. Then the road gets more difficult for the Senator from Vermont. Most of the remaining contests are primaries (and, mostly closed primaries) and are in states that are quite diverse and not quite a friendly to Senator Sanders.

With regard to planetary transits/aspects to his natal planets, transiting Jupiter had retrograded back into a conjunction with Senator Sanders’ natal Sun in Virgo. It continues its backward motion. However, transiting Saturn has now turned retrograde and is moving back into the square aspect to his natal Sun. So, we have transiting Jupiter conjunct and transiting Saturn in a square aspect to the Senator’s natal Sun. There is sort of a push/pull effect. He may be thinking, “should I stay in the race and go full speed ahead forcefully or should I be more conservatively and proceed slowly.” I think he will probably decide to stay in the race till June regardless of how he decides to proceed. However, by the end of April, I think it will be pretty clear to most everyone that he will not win the nomination. Nevertheless, I think that he will want to make a major impact on the Democratic Party platform, so I think he will stay in the race.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton:

The issue that I think will again surface with Secretary Clinton is the email controversy. It’s mostly a non issue, but the FBI is investigating her emails (during her time as Secretary of State), and that investigation is to conclude in the next month or two.

The April 21st (it’s the 22nd on the East Coast) Full Moon occurs conjunct Secretary Clinton’s natal Sun. If she was involved in any wrongdoing (and, the FBI has already stated that she herself is not under investigation), it would likely come out then. However, I think it’s more likely that they give her the “all clear” signal. She may also wrap up the Democratic nomination on April 19 after New York votes. We’ll see, but it should be an important Full Moon for her.

This is the latest “Clinton scandal,” and it’s been going on now for quite a while. The rightwing always has to have a Clinton scandal. And, if you look at any political rightwing website, you’ll find something about this issue. Even some mainstream media sites will have these stories (probably to get more pageviews). At this point, the whole thing appears to be much ado about nothing. The FBI is reviewing the issue, however they have stated that Clinton appears to have done nothing wrong and that she is not under any investigation. So, until they change their tune and/or issues some indictments and charges, it’s all just political rancor.

What do we look at in her chart to see what is going on? When discussing issues that relate to communications (such as email), we look at Mercury, the sign of Gemini, and the third house in one’s chart. Any issue of fraud or some kind of cover-up would be a Neptunian issue. And, legal issues would be governed by Jupiter. Hillary’s natal Mercury is in Scorpio, and her natal Neptune is in Libra.

In Hillary’s natal chart, Saturn is in a square aspect to her Mercury. She has to be careful about what and how she communicates. The words she uses are important. Her Moon in Pisces trines her Mercury. She is intuitive, and she communicates and thinks with her emotions as well as with her intellect.

Hillary became US Secretary of State in the Obama Administration at the beginning of 2009. At the time, transiting Uranus (in Pisces) was in a trine aspect to her natal Mercury. She was likely quite intrigued with modern forms of communicating at the time. We know she enjoyed using her blackberry. Transiting Saturn (in Virgo) was in a sextile aspect to her natal Mercury. She was learning to use this modern technology in her work. Transiting Neptune (in Aquarius) was squaring her natal Mercury. She not only was not an IT expert, she probably was quite confused about how and/or what to use to communicate with others. It’s likely that she depended on IT experts to help her with security issues and such. She likely wanted to simplify the process as much as possible for herself, which is understandable since she wasn’t hired as an It expert, but as SOS. She even explained the process this way when asked. So, she decided to use her own home email and server for email purposes. In looking back, she has already admitted that it probably wasn’t the best decision to make even though other SOS’s had done much the same thing.

May 11 could be another important date as the Sun opposes Secretary Clinton’s natal Mercury. However, transiting Mercury is retrograde on that date. So, my guess is that the FBI will completely wrap up the FBI investigation into Secretary Clinton’s email issue around June 6, because transiting Mercury will have turned direct and will be in opposition to Secretary Clinton’s natal Mercury by then.

The weekend begins with the Moon transiting the sign of practical Capricorn. Transiting Mercury conjoined transiting Uranus (both in Aries) on Thursday and is still within aspect on Friday. Someone’s surprising and/or unexpected words awaken us and encourage us to take action. Just talking about change isn’t enough The Moon moves into humanitarian Aquarius very early on Friday evening. We feel freer to allow our more unique qualities to surface. The Moon moves into empathetic Pisces late on Sunday night. We’re more understanding of others’ problems and feel compassion for those in need.

Aries –  You’ll need to handle important responsibilities on Friday before you can let loose and enjoy your friends. Communication is favored. Be sure to listen to others as well as communicate your own views. A higher up or a parent may want to have a discussion with you. Head out the door tonight to meet up with friends.

March 23, 2016 Lunar Eclipse In Libra

The month of March is eclipse season in 2016. The first eclipse, a solar eclipse, occurred on March 8, 2016 in Pisces. Now, on March 23 at 7:47 ET, we will have the (full Moon) lunar eclipse. It occurs in the sign of Libra at about three degrees. You will be affected by this eclipse if you have planets or points between one and five degrees of Libra and/or Aries. Most folks will simply experience the eclipse as a full Moon. Full Moons usually indicate a climax or coming to fruition of something, and we are normally more emotional during a full Moon.

The lunar eclipse in Libra will affect public tranquility and peace, issues of equality, marriage, judges, and social life. Transiting Mercury (in Aries) is lord of this eclipse. Issues of war, conflict, and peace-keeping will be discussed and perhaps planned; also conflict and changes in the media. Communication, ideas, and mental thinking are important. Foreign wars and conflicts are affected by changes. Explosive fires and/or disasters at sea could be a problem. Global warming will likely get greater media coverage. There could be a breakthrough with regard to treating a (foreign-born) virus. Transiting Mars in a favorable aspect to the eclipse point indicates that favorable action can be taken (especially with regard to relationship issues, partnerships, and marriage).

For the US, the motion picture industry, shipping, and healthcare are affected. This eclipse indicates increased pressure on healthcare, workers, hospitals, prisons, and death rates and consequences as a result of the t-square in mutable signs. The eclipse point squares Jupiter and Venus in the US natal chart. This points to trouble within the judiciary as the number of court vacancies continue to rise as a result of the US Senate leadership’s intransigence. It also points to possible problems with financial markets and/or the nation’s budget. Listen for exciting and/or interesting news from NASA. The cities of Los Angeles and Phoenix are affected by this eclipse.

This eclipse is close to zero degrees of a cardinal sign (and, the Sun is close to zero degrees Aries), therefore this will be a strong and very important eclipse.

UPDATE 3/22/16 PM:

In the national chart of Belgium: The Sun is at 10 degrees Libra, Pluto is at 8 degrees Aries, Jupiter is at 9 degrees Capricorn, and the Ascendant is at 8 degrees Capricorn. The Moon rules the seventh house of open enemies, and it was transiting in Virgo opposite Belgium's natal Mars in Pisces at the time of the attack. In the city chart for Brussels, transiting Mars in Sagittarius was conjunct natal Uranus. The symbolism for that aspect is a sudden, unexpected, and explosive fire (or, a bombing).

About one year ago on March 20, 2015, we experienced a total solar eclipse at 29 degrees Pisces (very close to zero degrees Aries).

Astrology And Politics - March 17, 2016

President Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland to succeed Justice Scalia and become the next United States Supreme Court justice yesterday. The biggest talking point that I have heard regarding Judge Garland, who is currently the Chief Judge on the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, is that he is liked by virtually everyone - other judges, lawyers, Chief Justice Roberts, and even US Republican Senators. Judge Garland’s birthday is November 13, 1952 and he was born in Chicago. I do not have an exact birth time, however. He has natal Sun in Scorpio, and his natal Moon is in Libra. It is the Libra Moon that makes him so likeable. He needs to be liked by others, and justice and equality and looking at all sides of an issue are deeply important to him (as signified by this Moon placement). His natal Mercury is in a trine aspect to his natal Pluto. His opinions are thoughtful, deep, and well-researched. If I had to guess, I’d say that the Senate will confirm him to the SCOTUS late September or early October (probably first week of October) as transiting Jupiter conjoins his natal Moon (or, close to it). The estimate could be several days off since we do not know exactly what time of day he was born. We’ll see as GOP Senate leaders are threatening to hold up his confirmation process and not even have hearings/meetings.

Senator Bernie Sanders’ transits and aspects are getting much better now as we move into the later half of the primary season. As a matter of fact, his chart looks damned good right now as transiting Jupiter heads back toward his natal Sun. However, Senator Sanders has a math problem now, not an Astrological problem or a problem with the universe/stars. Secretary Clinton has built up a 320+ delegate lead on Senator Sanders. It will be almost impossible for him to catch up with her at this point. It could happen, but it is extremely unlikely.  

We have already discussed Donald Trump’s problem with the GOP establishment/leadership. That will continue throughout the campaign. The problem the GOP establishment has is similar to that of Senator Sanders. Mr. Trump has a 250+ delegate lead on the nearest GOP presidential contender (which is Ted Cruz). He will almost surely get to the convention with quite a few more delegates than anyone else even if he doesn’t have the requisite number to claim the nomination outright. It should be an interesting GOP convention (to say the least).

As transiting Uranus continues its transit through Aries, it will begin to square Trump’s natal Saturn in Cancer and his eleventh house of friends and group endeavors. The last time he had this aspect was about 42 years ago. In 1973, the DOJ filed suit against Mr. Trump for violating the Fair Housing Act and discrimination (in housing) against African-Americans. Trump counter-sued the DOJ, but that was thrown out of court. The original suit was finally settled out of court in 1975. Mr. Trump was again sued by the DOJ for breaking the terms of the agreement in 1978. This aspect can cause quite a bit of trouble, chaos, and rebellion. The arrival of spring will likely excite us. We feel renewed. Transiting Venus conjoins transiting Neptune (both in Pisces) on Sunday morning. Love has a peaceful easy feeling to it. Creativity flourishes. The Moons moves into detail-oriented Virgo on Sunday morning as well. We want to get organized and be of service.
